Geneviève Racette unveils new single “Common Denominator” and exclusive European EP.
Acclaimed Canadian folk-pop artist Geneviève Racette has released her powerful new single “Common Denominator”, accompanied by a striking cinematic music video.
Known for her warm vocals and honest storytelling, Racette delivers a song that explores the moment of painful clarity when patterns of manipulation and victimhood are finally revealed for what they are. With haunting lyricism and piercing vulnerability, “Common Denominator” speaks to anyone who has ever faced gaslighting or blame and come through with renewed strength.
The release is accompanied by a visually captivating music video, filmed in a shadowy forest at night. Surrounded by women dressed in white and gathered around a bonfire, Racette takes part in a ritual-like release, burning letters and papers to symbolise liberation and clarity. Directed by Catherine Deslauriers and Steve Gagnon, and edited by Laurie TB, the video’s imagery mirrors the song’s intensity, offering a cathartic and empowering viewing experience.
To celebrate her growing international presence, Racette also unveils an exclusive European EP. This special release brings together some of her most celebrated work, including “From Friends to Strangers”, “Same Old Me” — which earned her a nomination for Single of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards — and her most recent French-language single “Le Roseau”. The EP serves as a bridge between her Canadian success and her expanding European audience, paving the way for the release of a Deluxe Edition of her latest album ‘Golden’ in January 2026, followed by a full European tour in May 2026.
Racette’s music has already reached audiences far beyond her native Canada. Her 2024 album ‘Golden’ debuted at #3 on the Folk Alliance International charts, while her single “The Reasons (I’ll Be Alright)” was featured on the TV series Heartland. Previous releases, ‘Satellite’ (2022) and ‘No Water, No Flowers’ (2019), received praise from Rolling Stone, Exclaim!, CBC, and earned her a Canadian Folk Music Award. Her European debut at The Great Escape Festival marked the beginning of a deeper connection with audiences across the continent.
With an unwavering commitment to authenticity and a woman-driven creative team — over 80% of her collaborators are women — Geneviève Racette continues to champion stories of vulnerability, resilience, and self-discovery. Her performances across North America, including stages at Osheaga, AmericanaFest, Folk Alliance International, and Canadian Music Week, have cemented her reputation as one of the most moving voices in contemporary folk-pop.
With “Common Denominator” and her forthcoming European EP, Geneviève Racette is set to captivate listeners across the UK and Europe, bringing her uniquely intimate song writing and powerful storytelling to new audiences in 2026 and beyond.
