Murray & The Movers – Put Them On An Extra Spin
Murray & The Movers follow up the release of their late-night blues-rock cut ‘Dirty Laundry’ with ‘Squeaky Clean’, a frisky, electrified reworking that pushes the song into sharp-edged rockabilly territory.
‘Squeaky Clean’ is the sunny-side-up flip of ‘Dirty Laundry’ — swapping late-night smoke and tension for bright rockabilly swagger, clean cowboy boots and good-time rhythm. Built around crisp stick sounds, woody percussion, twanging guitars and scooting grooves, the track rolls through Americana country-blues territory with a grin on its face. If ‘Dirty Laundry’ was after dark, ‘Squeaky Clean’ is the sound of throwing open the blinds and skipping down the street in freshly polished cowboy boots.
Fronted by Lizzie Mack, whose voice moves between raw intimacy and controlled power, and anchored by Murray Cook’s instinctive guitar work, the two tracks reveal both sides of Murray & The Movers: one slow-burning and shadowed, the other sharper, louder and built for speed.
Drawing on blues, country, garage rock and classic soul, the band’s sound is never revivalist. Instead, it lives in a distinctly cinematic space — music with dust on its boots, neon in its reflection, and a sense of backstory running through every musical choice. With the high-energy release of ‘Squeaky Clean’ juxtaposing the restrained, cinematic, tension-building moods of ‘Dirty Laundry’, Murray & The Movers showcase their great versatility across the same song.
Following the release, Lizzie Mack and Murray Cook will head to Spain in summer 2026 for a run of intimate duo shows, bringing their raw chemistry and stripped-back sound to a series of close, atmospheric rooms from Madrid to Barcelona.

Martyrs Saint – A Rampant Force
Hailing from Bristol, in the UK’s south west, Martyrs Saint have been carving out their own niche in the area’s thriving underground music scene.
A powerful, no-holds barred contemporary take on crossover; bringing together the groove, impact and attitude of hardcore with the energy and aggression of thrash – adding a palette expanding dose of musical skill and creative ambition.
The rampant force of their pit inducing live performances has seen them sharing the stage with bands from across the hard-hitting sonic spectrum; from the metal of Absolva to the blackened thrash of Grave Altar, the death metal of Psycroptic to the punk of Broken Jaw and thrash metal of Hellfekted and Hellbearer. They also delivered a set at this year’s Southwest Heavy Fest, alongside Visions Of Disfigurement and Inhuman Nature, that was described by From The Pit as “…uncompromising and vicious…savage enough to shatter concrete…”. Now Martyrs Saint are ready to unveil a debut EP that delivers all that ferocity and all those addictive riffs, showing the full extent of what this band have to offer – From Strength To Strength!
The title track, ‘From Strength To Strength’, kicks off this EP in a blast of muscular riffs and attitude infused vocals. It’s an irresistible invitation to the pit, delivering blow after unforgiving blow, a grinding anthem of defiance and self-belief that leads straight into ‘Enemy Of My Enemy’ with its twisting guitars and devastating drums – every snare beat from Louie Hawkes like a shattering skull. There’s a pitbull bite to the delivery, bolstered by the colossal bottom end supplied by bassist Harvey Lewis and blazing lead guitar work brings an additional dimension to the song. Up next is the incredible ‘In Amber’, an epic, emotive, song that evolves through different movements and features outstanding individual performances from every band member. Brandon Goodair showing just how strong his voice is and Amaré Hurley unleashing some breathtaking solos. Building from an atmospheric opening to vast, towering chords and laced with the most potent melodies, ‘In Amber’ is a display of ambitious excellence – and there’s still more to come! Final track, ‘The Divine Art Of War’ begins with snarling guitars like chained wolves, straining at the leash and ready to attack, before serving up a magnificently measured assault of crunching aggression, the band operating as a supremely locked in unit. From Strength To Strength is a standard thrust into the earth, a barrage of heavy artillery that announces a new musical force ready to take on all comers.
Produced and mixed by Lucas Fletcher (Shrike, Espera, Apathy etc) at Shell City Studios, From Strength To Strength sounds magnificent – fierce, colossally heavy, textured and impactful. Each instrument has the space to breathe and yet, when needed, they all mesh to create a seamless wall of impenetrable steel. Coming at you on July 3rd, Martyrs Saint are unstoppable.
KRIS DREVER – It’s A Love Thing
Between his solo work and folk trio Lau, Kris Drever has established himself as one of the most decorated figures in contemporary folk music.
His accolades include BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Folk Singer of the Year, Best Original Song, and Horizon Award for Best Newcomer, while Lau claimed the coveted Best Group award four times. At the Scottish Traditional Music Awards (Na Trads), he has taken home Live Act of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, and Album of the Year.
Marking his first solo release in six years, renowned singer-songwriter and guitarist Drever returns with his fifth album, Doing This For Love. The album marks the latest evolution in a career that began with the traditional Scottish folk storytelling of his 2006 debut Black Water. Over time, Drever’s songwriting has grown increasingly personal and contemporary — drawing subtle threads from indie, jazz, and popinto his acoustic roots, and shifting from interpreting shared histories to excavating individual experience and emotion.
The result is ten guitar-led meditations on the unglamorous heroism of everyday life — the 4am alarm clocks, the thankless shifts, the quiet sacrifices made in the name of keeping others whole. Anchoring each track is Drever’s guitar work: understated yet virtuosic. Around it, a carefully chosen band of collaborators brings the songs to vivid life. Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow) contributes drums, guitars, keys, and vocals, while long-time co-producer Euan Burton’s melodic bass brings rich depth to the sonic landscape. Rachel Sermanni’s vocals add a fragile tenderness most keenly felt on Pilot Whales — a standout track that pairs her voice with warm electric guitar and buoyant drumming to honour the community effort to save stranded whales off the coast of Orkney. Vocalist Rachel Lightbody and old-time banjoist Cahalen Morrison round out an ensemble that orbits Drever’s songs with care and restraint, adding texture without ever obscuring the core.
Doing This For Love doesn’t romanticise struggle — it honours it. These are songs about the unglamorous work of care, the small acts of devotion that rarely make headlines but sustain lives and relationships. Drever sings them as someone who understands that love, in its truest form, is a verb: something you do rather than something you feel.
Drever has been touring in support of the album. Shows feature brand-new material alongside songs drawn from across his back catalogue of originals and his storied interpretations of traditional material — from Black Water through 2020’s Where the World is Thin and into the new record. Audience responses have highlighted his warmth and engagement, with intimate venue settings drawing particular praise for the quality of sound and connection.
St. Catherine’s Child – Electric Folk for Beautiful Outsiders
St. Catherine’s Child is the project of Ilana Zsigmond, a transatlantic singer-songwriter rising in the Indie Folk/Americana scene.
Born in England and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, Ilana’s music is shaped by both continents, blending the poetic storytelling of Americana with the dry wit of her British Sensibilities.
She recently signed to TRO Essex Music and its label arm Shamus Records, further enriching an iconic catalogue including Woody Guthrie, David Bowie, T. Rex, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, along with breakthrough artists such as Jaden Evans and Flamy Grant. Named after the patron saint of eloquent women, her vocal strength and enchanting songwriting lie at the heart of St. Catherine’s Child. Her 2025 album, This Might Affect You captures Ilana writing at its most honest and raw yet.
Her latest release, a double single covers project features her own irresistible and modern renditions of the classic tracks, “Cosmic Dancer” by T. Rex and “Fly Me To The Moon” by Bart Howard.
