Gefahrgeist are an electronic pop act from Edinburgh.
Combining Fiona Liddell’s haunting voice and intricate songwriting with Niall (Neel) Rae’s innovative production and arrangement, the duo have created a uniquely dark yet pop sound. For fans of Kate Bush, London Grammar, Zero 7 and Bonobo, their songs are often likened to going on a musical journey.
Their debut single ‘Graceless’ was one of The Herald’s Top 100 Scottish Songs of 2020. They have since released four more singles to critical acclaim and are working on their debut EP.
New single ‘Reach’ will be released on Friday 24th February at 00:00 GMT across all streaming platforms. The song discusses regret and questions the character’s faith in their past decisions. The track’s production is built to create a sense of imprisonment and claustrophobia. With themes of religion, feminism and guilt, ‘Reach’ is an exploration of existential dread and how an unhealthy obsession of it can hold you back from living your own life.
