Drawing collectively from their experiences, song writing, performances and creativity, SDR are ready to follow in the footsteps of bands such as Manic Street Preachers, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Bush.
TheyĀ may be a new band, but itās members have already paid their dues on the music scene. This is a band who know exactly what they are doing, where they are going and how to get there. And they want you to listen closely as they are addressing some of the big things in life today, not just their lives but the lives of everyone.Ā These are not mundane love songs; these are things that are hard to hear but need to be listened to.
Debut singlesĀ ‘Little Things’,Ā ‘Melanin’Ā andĀ ‘Mantle’Ā received positive feedback, glowing reviews and picked up airplay across the globe allowing the band to build a platform and increase their visibility prior to the release of their debut albumĀ ‘Gilded Echoes’Ā which will be releasedĀ 13th September.
“From conception, Gilded Echoes was originally sparked as an idea between Jamie & Douglas to bring their creativity and love of music to the studio. After realising the quality of the recordings captured, and knowing they couldn’t do it alone, the decision was made to bring the other members of Silver Dollar Room on board. Introducing John, Lisa & Dan to the fold added the final key ingredients to the recordings, ultimately bringing the songsĀ to life”.
Fronting the band isĀ John KeenanĀ (Vocals) best known for Edinburgh rockersĀ DMS. His unique voice is one of the most distinctive on the scene. He has played sell-out shows in some of Scotlandās most prestigious venues and has gained massive respect for both his voice and his song writing. Driving this is a mind that needs to say something. And SDR gives him, in fact encourages him to say what he wants with no filter.
GuitaristĀ Jamie TurnbullĀ may be best known as Producer for bands likeĀ Dogs DāAmour, but he has been seen on stages all over the UK since he was a teenager. His gifted song writing has seen him open up for legends such asĀ Paul DiāannoĀ ofĀ Iron Maiden,Ā SkindredĀ andĀ Breed 77. Being a āgun for hireā guitar player has seen him rack up hundreds of gigs in the last ten years alone!
Lisa AirdĀ is a professional musician and multi instrumentalist who is handling bass duties. Best known as part of Edinburgh institutionĀ AC Rid, she has also performed all over the UK and Europe as a singer. She brings not only a massive amount of musical experience and integrity, but an attitude and professionalism like no other.
Dan ColvinĀ adds the guitar layers that hold the band together and give the extra boost they need live. A seasoned player and songwriter, Dan has shared the stage with SDR vocalist John together with DMS many times. In bands such as Art of Privilege and Scottish rapper Mog, he has shared the stage with acts such asĀ The FratellisĀ andĀ James Arthur.
Douglas McDonaldĀ is one of the most powerful drummers on the music scene, with a tribal backbeat and groove that most drummers would die for. Having racked up extensive touring and festival experience with indie rockersĀ The Acute, he knows what the UK music is all about.
