Callen Radcliffe Tjader Jr.Ā was an American Latin Jazz musician who primarily recorded playing the vibraphone but was also accomplished on the drums, bongos, congas, timbales and piano.
Cal TjaderĀ started his career alongsideĀ Dave BrubeckĀ in the late 1940’s before joiningĀ George Shearing’s group in the early 1950’s. In 1954 he formed theĀ Cal Tjader Modern Mambo Quintet.
