Portuguese sludge metal powerhouse Vaneno are back with their blistering new album, Chaos, Hostility, Murder, via Raging Planet Records.
The album was mixed and mastered by Pedro Mau at SinWav Audio, who also handled the band’s debut EP, further cementing Vaneno’s reputation as one of the most promising names in the Portuguese metal scene.
The band’s journey began in 2017, when Miguel Nunes (drums), Eduardo Cunha (guitar), and António Tavares (guitar) started jamming together, forging the core of their raw, sludge-infused sound. By late 2019, Pedro Fernandes (bass) and Alexandre Fernandes (vocals) joined the fold, marking a pivotal step in the band’s evolution.
Following the departure of Eduardo Cunha, the band welcomed Felipe Peraboa as their new guitarist—ushering in a fresh dynamic as they continue to push their sound forward.
Vaneno’s previous EP, Struggle Through Absurdity, delivered four crushing tracks that blended elements of sludge, stoner, and death metal. Known for their heavy, muscular riffs and pummeling grooves, the band’s sound remains visceral and unrelenting. With Chaos, Hostility, Murder, Vaneno now aim even higher, channeling their ferocity into their most focused and aggressive work to date.
