Nick Haeffner is an English singer-songwriter whose music is an eclectic mix of indie pop, folk, psychedelia, prog, chamber pop, world music and dub.
It is the sound of quirky lyrics set to earworm melodies over crafty chord changes, toe-tapping Latin rhythms and trippy atmospherics.
‘What Time Can Do’ is a remastered vinyl format of his fourth and most ambitious solo album to date. Switching seamlessly between genres and with a title song that can be described as ‘Eleanor Rigby’ meets Sly & Robbie, Haeffner explains that “it was a few years in the making and represents a big step forward for me. Elements of my previous albums are very much present but there is a lighter, jazzier touch due to contributions from superb musicians such as Marcus Holdaway (cello, vocals, keyboards), Chris Cummings (backing vocals and keyboards) and Yani Martinelli (backing vocals). They are associated with The High Llamas and Stereolab and bring rich harmonies and musical sophistication to the record. I am also hopeful that listeners will discover an attention to production details that I think gives it substance and the ability to outlast musical trends or fashions.”
