Coming out this Friday, 28th via Redrum Recordz, the new collaborative LP of two giants of hip-hop features contributions from DJ Shadow, Chuck D, Ras Kass, Mr Lif, Craig G, Young Zee, Trackstar the DJ (Run the Jewels) among others.

Rap pioneer Kool Keith, known for his groundbreaking work with Ultramagnetic MC’s and his many aliases such as Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom and Black Elvis, is about to release a new album.

When it comes to innovation, Kool Keith keeps it consistent for decades. He’s a wordsmith, eccentric, a source of inspiration for many famous artists that came after him and one of the most recognisable rap icons in Hip Hop culture. For his upcoming album ‘Sonic Psychosis’ he teamed up with legendary underground producer and owner of Redrum Recordz, Mike Redman. (yes, this is indeed his real surname) Mike’s known for staying out of the spotlight, but has an incredible trackrecord with productions for many artists such as Public Enemy and travels the world with his ear-shattering project ‘Deformer’ since the early 90’s.

Kool Keith and Mike Redman are a perfect match when it comes to originality. They are both known for not following trends and this again shows on their upcoming album. What Keith does with words, Mike Redman does with his solid production. On ‘Sonic Psychosis’ Keith is razor-sharp, Mike’s production is heavy, unorthodox and the use of sounds make you want to listen to the album over and over again just to discover something new each time you play it while bopping your head. Some tracks may remind you of Hip-Hop’s golden era, it’s also innovative and will definitely give Rap music a refreshing impuls. ‘Sonic Psychosis’ is already legendary because the title track features Kool Keith and Public Enemy frontman Chuck D for the first time on a track together! The album also features legendary artists DJ Shadow, Ras Kass, Mr Lif, Craig G, Young Zee, Trackstar the DJ (Run the Jewels), Del the Funky Homosapien, DJ Lord (PE/Cypress Hill), Killah Priest, Sadat X and many others.

The liner notes state that “no form of AI was used in creating this album”, including the cover art which is hand-painted. This album is truly a work of passion. Maybe that’s why some fans already add ‘Sonic Psychosis’ to Kool Keith’s biggest classics and say that this is the one they’ve been waiting for.
