Nights draw out, party season draws in and Liverpool’s new stars of indie jangle and poetic lyricism, Keyside, return with their latest hope-filled, sun-specked anthem, Lemon & Lime – OUT NOW.
Soundtracking, in the band’s own words “the joy of parks in the summer with friends”, the four-piece’s catalogue of songs grows one further to become an expanding encyclopedia of gritty, beautiful and open-heartedly honest Gen-Z experience, fostering deep connections with fans living such stories in real time.
The most difficult of Keyside’s tales have frequently been told through intricate character studies, smoothing the edges of hopeless dependency through the eyes of Nikita, a song which landed the band prime time airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, and telling the cautionary story of fragile mental health through Michael (What’s Your Call?). Putting majors next to minors and fuelling the intensity of hope by pitching joy next to despair, the band and lyricist front man, Dani-Lee Parker’s latest twist is to unapologetically celebrate the thrills and spills of teenage life. Freedom, mistakes and pursuing grown-up pursuits beneath fading blue skies, lost in a haze of irresponsibility.
Fast out of the blocks, the vibrant track has already been transmitted nationwide as Track of the Week on the BBC Radio 1 Introducing show with Jess Iszatt, alongside the same accolade being bestowed by BBC Introducing Merseyside at the start of April, continuing a run of support that reaches back to those earliest, emergent Keyside releases.
Evocative of their previous, self-proclaimed “f**k it!” single, waving goodbye to self-doubt on last summer’s attitude-laced If You Don’t Try, a song similarly “about embracing uncertainty, taking chances and living life”, Keyside’s first single of 2026 will leave listeners even hungrier for their long-awaited debut album announcement.
Bringing Parker’s lyrical visions to life, the single comes with a fly-on-the-wall, big night out video starring BAFTA-nominated actor, Dylan Thomas-Smith, acclaimed for his role in ITV’s G’wed.
Parker says of Lemon & Lime’s sunny disposition: “It’s about those nights where you’re completely out of control in the best possible way: carving your name somewhere you shouldn’t, being with someone you can’t stop thinking about, that feeling that nothing can touch you.”
Completed by Ben Cassidy (lead guitar), Max Gibson (bass, backing vocals) and Oisín McAvoy (drums), Keyside’s continued upwards trajectory was amped yet further by their sold-out debut UK tour in late 2025, completed with an unforgettable homecoming at the 1,200 capacity Liverpool O2 Academy as the year concluded. Continuing to do what they do best, 2026 has opened with support tours in the company of The Automatic and The Clause and goes on to include a run of UK-wide major festival dates.
