K-Music Festival – A Showcase Of Diversity And Creativity

As Korean culture continues to captivate audiences around the world, K-Music Festival offers a deeper exploration of the country’s diverse musical identity, bringing together artists who honour centuries-old traditions while embracing bold, contemporary forms of expression and creative experimentation. Presented by the Korean Cultural Centre UK, the festival takes place across leading London venues including Southbank Centre, Royal Albert Hall, Rich Mix, Jazz Café, EartH Theatre, Stone Nest and Upstairs at Ronnie’s.

The festival opens at EartH Theatre with a special showcase celebrating the diversity of Korea’s contemporary music scene. Featuring acclaimed folk innovators ADG7, genre-defying hip-hop duo Lil Cherry & GOLDBUUDAand distinctive singer-songwriter Chang Kiha, the opening night brings together three unique sounds shaping Korean culture today.

On 3 October, Korean and French musicians come together at Stone Nest for the one-off Wind Alone, Sand Alone – Make No Sound, a boundary-blurring work of sonic theatre combining medieval chant, Korean traditional music, ambient sound and improvisation. Performed in the round, the piece transforms the venue into a living acoustic landscape, with sound, breath and resonance at its core. The six-member ensemble includes Eunyong Sim of acclaimed Korean post-rock group JAMBINAI.

On 11 October, Korean Games in Concert comes to the Purcell Room at Southbank Centre, performed by the acclaimed National Gugak Center Orchestra. Celebrating Black Desert and iconic Korean game soundtracks including Lies of P, Solo Leveling: ARISE, Skul: The Hero Slayer, SANABI and Let’s Get Rich, the concert features newly arranged scores performed on traditional Korean instruments, accompanied by visuals inspired by historic Seoul and Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Rich Mix hosts Chudahye Chagis on 17 October, bringing their explosive fusion of Korean shamanic ritual music, psychedelic funk, hip-hop, R&B and rock to the stage. Led by Seoul-based vocalist Chu Dahye, the boundary-pushing group’s latest album SOSUMINJOK won Album of the Year and Best R&B/Soul Song at the 2026 Korean Music Awards.

A rare meeting of Korean tradition and contemporary European jazz takes place on 29 October, when acclaimed gayageum player and composer Kyungso Park joins Swedish bassist Björn Meyer at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room. Drawing on Korean, jazz and contemporary influences, the intimate collaboration brings together two boundary-pushing musicians – Park being renowned for bridging traditional and contemporary Korean music, while ECM recording artist and Swiss Music Prize recipient Meyer is celebrated as one of Europe’s most inventive bassists.

The festival’s final weeks feature two distinctive Korean acts. On 11 November, Dongyang Gozupa return to Rich Mix following their sold-out 2022 appearance, blending progressive and post-rock with the Korean yanggeum and previewing new material following performances at WOMAD Chile, Rainforest World Music Festival and Lincoln Center. On 23 November, K-Music Festival debuts at Upstairs at Ronnie’s with Baroque in Blue, led by Jisu Jung, whose jazz-infused reimagining of Charlie Parker draws on Baroque, Romantic, Impressionist and Shostakovich influences and earned a 2026 Korean Music Awards nomination.
