“Very rarely do we ever collaborate with other artists unless we feel like they strongly align with us, both culturally and sonically,” added Jady. “Last year we had the opportunity to meet Colby and had an instant connection, so much so that we invited her out on our fall tour. It only felt right to release a track that we could perform it with her on the road.“
Since the age of 14, Texas-bred colby! has devoted her life to making music with her older brother and Berklee College alum RJ Johnson, eventually dreaming up a fearlessly original brand of alt-pop that’s both cathartic and wildly fun. Before she started making music of her own, colby! funneled her innate creativity into everything from abstract painting to building furniture for her dolls, partly to cope with her severe dyslexia. Instantly discovering her gift for crafting unforgettable melodies, colby! also found that her dyslexia helped to shape her singular songwriting voice. Listing pop icons like Amy Winehouse and Gwen Stefani among her top influences, colby! has been named an artist to watch by Fault and Galore while being spotlighted by Atwood, Clout, Ladygunn, Ones to Watch, and many more. Her latest releases include collaborations with fellow rising pop artists nothhingspecial and Eli Wilson and she recently toured with Natalie Jane in the U.S. and Europe.
Breaking out of the Midwest scene, Columbus’s alt duo Jady has rapidly achieved recognition regionally and overseas. The young Jarrett Doherty and Ashton Bergdorf have independently released three albums, completed seven major tours supporting the likes of The Cab, Red Leather, Call Me Karizma, and Saint Motel, and performed over 200 shows across continents in just 3 short years.
