Shoegaze-tinged, motorik darkwave. Black glass synths, washed in noise-rock guitar, with Polish vocals, propelled by relentless drum machine pulses.
Chalk Teeth is a Los Angeles trio by way of NYC and Oakland. Karolina on vocals and icicle guitar, Adam on avalanche guitar, and Jason on bass, synths, sequences and beats create a hypnotic, flickering dance rite, a live experience that cleanses your bone marrow with volume and frequency.
After an active two years performing across LA and NYC, Chalk Teeth prepare to release their debut album on June 26th. Leading up to the album’s release, Chalk Teeth have released two singles accompanied by guerrilla production music videos via UPROXX and Occult Magazine: “Struck” and “Floor it” respectively.
After relocating from NYC to LA, Polish-born German-raised Karolina Wallace and her husband Adam Wallace reconnected with Adam’s childhood friend Jason Miller and soon began developing and performing primordial versions of the songs on their debut. Their collaborative approach quickly became central to the band’s creative process. “Most of our songs started out as improvisations like 20+ minute long sprawling noise workouts over a bed of drum machine and synth sequences,” shares the band. “Then we’d listen back and identify the parts that were most compelling, arrange them into a song, learn how to play that and then develop it until the song felt right, but it was a mostly very organic collaborative process. Once Karolina started adding vocals, everything fell into place. We let the songs evolve a little playing them live for about a year and then recorded the versions on the album once they felt alive”
