A Vulture Wake – Excursion Into Melancholia
A Vulture Wake rages forth through 2022 with their second E.P. of the year! ‘Animal’, out Sept. 9.
A progressive powerhouse of hooks & riffs – 5 songs continuing the band’s campaign to “Do No Harm; Take No Shit” while taking aim at the powers that be, inner demons, and a bleak future on this dying planet.
AVW now offers solutions to the issues raised in their previous releases – commit violence, give in, leave the planet, sleep? The choice is ours.
‘Animal’ follows the critically-acclaimed and fan-embraced ‘Kingdom’ E.P. – Also Produced, Engineered & Mixed by Mike Kennerty (Direct Hit!, Red City Radio, Copyrights).
A Vulture Wake: Chad Price - Vocals Dave Klein - Bass John Hernandez- Drums
A rotting corpse in a pretty dress, A Vulture Wake’s new single, ‘Lost Cause Of The Year’, a slight rocker riding a slow gallop into the catchiest of despairing love songs – draped in driving rhythms and dripping melodies. When you’ve lost all hope but still enjoy beautiful music, lead singer & songwriter Chad Price offers this excursion into melancholia.
‘Lost Cause Of The Year’ is a trigger warning with a happy ending.
Scum Of The Earth – Slaying It
Scum of the Earth Release New Single “Ziggurats Of Mesopotamia”!
Former Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs and his band Scum Of The Earth wants everyone to know that Aliens are already here.“This is a song about ancient aliens living in the face on Mars and hiding out on earth exterminating humans …” says Riggs. Nasty guitar and industrial beats are what fans expect from S.O.T.E. and they won’t be let down with this release.
The single marks the first release for SOTE under their new label deal with TLG / INgrooves.
SOTE had an initial NFT offering of 100 pieces through Fanaply that went quickly – https://fanaply.com/creator/scumoftheearth. Another offering of LTD edition NFT’s will be available next week.
The familiar songwriting and guitars that permeates Scum of the Earth’s material is no coincidence; the alternative metal outfit is led by Riggs, an in-your-face singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer who is best known for the six years he spent with Rob Zombie. Riggsjoined forces with Rob Zombie in the ’90s and stayed with him into the early 2000s, eventually leaving in 2004 (when Rob Zombie was largely focusing on films rather than music) to start a project of his own.Riggs songwriting and crunching guitars can be heard on Rob Zombie’sHellbilly Deluxe, American Made Music To Strip By, The Sinister Urge, and the Past, Present & Future records. Named after a song from Rob Zombie’s Sinister Urge, Scum of the Earthfavors the sort of rhythmic, industrial-influenced, mildly funky, hip-hop-minded alternative metal that Riggs honed during the Rob Zombie days.
The decadent, over-the-top sense of fun, a dark sense of humor, and a fascination with horror films, the Occult, B-movies, and sleaze is shared by RIGGS. But in contrast to such groups as Slayer — who take their death metal outlook quite seriously — Scum of the Earth’s lyrics are very tongue-in-cheek.
MELTING PALMS – Sounds Of The City
Sitting neatly on the intersection where indie-rock, shoegaze, dreampop and neo-psych all meet.
Hamburg-based quintet Melting Palms are set to release a new album (their second) entitled ‘Noise Between The Shades’ late this summer that deserves to establish them internationally as one of the most powerfully euphoric bands around.
A collective as much as a group, Melting Palms were founded in 2017 when Mike Krumhorn (vocals, guitar), Teresa Koeberle (vocals, guitar, piano, synth) and Johann Wientjes (drums, sound design) began musical and romantic entanglements. A debut EP and 2020 album (‘Abyss’) were recorded as a trio while performing concerts and rehearsing endlessly in their basement in a rundown area otherwise comprised of animal shelters and street prostitution, before they eventually recruited Tim Dajan Thiele (guitar) and Lukas Schulz (bass) to complete their current line-up.
Recorded at Clouds Hill Studio in their home city, ‘Noise Between The Shades’ is intoxicating and daring, contains surprising musical and lyrical twists, and emerges as a cascade of euphoria and drama. Boasting a spatial yet highly concentrated sound, it is a stunning combination of guitar-based music, noise and emotion.
Reference points include Melody’s Echo Chamber, Wand, Deerhunter and much earlier reverb/delay-heavy bands such as Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Pale Saints and the late ‘80s Creation/4AD guitar aesthetic in general. However, these Kraut-Punks do it all in a box-fresh fashion and ‘Noise Between The Shades’ has the power and ability to reach far beyond the German border.

Teresa Koeberle – vocals, guitar, piano, synth
Tim Dajan Thiele – guitar
Lukas Schulz – bass
Johann Wientjes – drums, sound design
Melting Palms also have a common non-musical goal, even a socio-political claim: humanism and idealism are a real concern for these five DIY utopians, one that embodies the notable resilience of the Hamburg scene in both attitude and aesthetics. All five group members have also been in or performed with other outfits on the city’s punk scene and their own signature sound has emerged from this special togetherness, a patchwork of many creative energies, the beautiful but also painful noise between the shades that every life guards.

CAVERNOUS GATE – Unexpected Beauty
CAVERNOUS GATE reveal first lyric video single ‘The Artefact’ and details of new album “Voices from a Fathomless Realm”
CAVERNOUS GATE have released the sinister lyric video ‘The Artefact’ taken from the forthcoming debut full-length “Voices from a Fathomless Realm”, which has been slated for release on October 14.
“Voices from a Fathomless Realm” is the first full-length from CAVERNOUS GATE. The German death doom outfit is a solo-project of multi-instrumentalist Sebastian “S.K.” Körkemeier. Sebastian has co-founded HELRUNAR under the alias Alsvartr and he also supports Markus “Schwadorf” Stock’s black metal project SUN OF THE SLEEPLESS as well as EMPYRIUM live.
CAVERNOUS GATE comment: “A rough sketch of a pale eye that reflects shadowy figures inspired me to write these lyrics”, mastermind and multi-instrumentalist Sebastian “S.K.” Körkemeier reveals. “The song’s atmosphere and arrangement kind of created a basic musical storyline, which I continued to build on. ‘The Artefact’ is probably the stylistically most consistent track on the album and it shows clear influences from both early thrash and death metal.”
CAVERNOUS GATE
CAVERNOUS GATE and “Voices from a Fathomless Realm” are quite obviously musical works of love. Sebastian is successfully channelling his penchant for British doom and death acts such as earliest PARADISE LOST and CATHEDRAL as well as Swedish death metal in the vein of early ENTOMBED and DISMEMBER into a dark, depressive, and massive monolith of ultra-heaviness. On “Voices from a Fathomless Realm”, Sebastian’s granite-grinding and abysmally low growls clearly dominate, but are on rare occasions beautifully contrasted with Jenny Kalbitz’ female voice.
Lyrically “Voices from a Fathomless Realm” explores a grimdark fantasy world of twilight and its ghostly inhabitants, which Sebastian evokes in ways similar to the descriptions of paintings and by the creation of vivid dreamlike images.
What Sebastian started on the 2019 split-album “Sun of the Sleepless / Cavernous Gate Split”, he has now honed to perfection with the project’s first full-length “Voices from a Fathomless Realm”. Crafted with all the experience of a veteran metal musician, but also emotionally captivating, the added deep and clearly audible love for the dark heavy style makes the difference. Let CAVERNOUS GATE drag you into a nightmare abyss of classical doom death interpreted in a contemporary way that paints musical pictures of an unexpected beauty lurking in these unexplored depths of pain and utter sadness.

THE SUBWAYS – Out To Deliver
THE SUBWAYS Announce New Album ‘Uncertain Joys’ Out January 2023.
‘Uncertain Joys’ (set for release on January 13, 2023 via Bodan Kuma/ Alcopop! Records) is the band’s first album in 7 years, and was produced by frontman Billy Lunn, mixed by Grammy Award-winning Adrian Bushby, and mastered by Katie Tavini.
The song follows the recent release of the album’s first single “You Kill My Cool.”
Lunn says, “Love Waiting On You’ is about the tension between desperately wanting to be with the one you desire and yet also relishing the suspense in being kept from them. From the confines of my bed on tour (or in my rooms at uni), I would yearn for the love of my life, waiting for her messages to ping on my phone, hoping to hear her voice at the end of the line, desperate to feel her touch. Caught in those moments, there was a joyful pain that made seeing her again unimaginably beautiful. Still, there was something wild and ecstatic about missing her so much.”
The Subways will be touring the UK this Autumn. Tickets are on sale now.

KANE BROWN – Nimbly Manoeuvring
KANE BROWN ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, “DIFFERENT MAN” SET FOR RELEASE 9TH SEPTEMBER.
Global entertainer Kane Brown today announced his highly-anticipated third studio album, Different Man, is set to be released September 9th.
The 5X AMA award-winning artist and Time100 honoree confirmed the news this morning, partnering with CMT to become the first artist ever to reveal his official album cover on Paramount’s Times Square Billboard. The fan-selected album cover for Different Man was one of two options Brown released to his fans earlier last week on his Instagram, asking for them to pick their favorite option.
The album will feature a total of seventeen songs, including his current Top-5-and climbing hit single “Like I Love Country Music,” his co-produced track, “Whiskey Sour,” his #1 hit, “One Mississippi,” “Leave You Alone,” and the new single, “Grand,” set to be released Friday, July 22nd. Additionally, the album will include twelve additional yet to be revealed songs. The May/June American Songwriter Cover artist recently spoke with the magazine about his upcoming project, as well as his rise to fame, family, and going back to his roots with this new chapter of music. Fans can pre-save the album, Different Man, starting Friday (7/22).
To pre-save Brown’s new song, “Grand,” visit here.
Of the new project and Brown’s career to date, American Songwriter notes: “It’s this multifaceted foundation that has led him to be such a versatile artist, one capable of crooning like Garth Brooks and nimbly maneuvering on a track like a more conventional pop star…however, at the core of who he is and the driving force behind his inspiration and passion is his family, including his fans. For Brown, it’s a combination of a feeling he gives off to others and who he is at his core. Add those to the joy his music engenders to a diverse group of listeners, and you’ve got something.”
Brown’s third full-length studio album, Different Man, is the follow up to his #1 Billboard 200 Platinum-selling release, Experiment(2018), his 2X Platinum, 13-week-chart-topping self-titled debut album, Kane Brown (2016), and his ACM Award Album of the Year nominated EP, Mixtape Vol.1. Named “the future of country music” (Billboard), Brown became the first artist ever to lead all five of Billboard’s main country charts simultaneously with the release of his debut effort, which garnered 7X Platinum-certified hits “Heaven” and “What Ifs”-the fourth and seventh most-streamed country songs of all time (U.S. Nielsen Country On-Demand Streams chart). With the release of Experiment, Brown became the only male country artist in more than 24 years to have his sophomore album debut at the top the Billboard 200. The Platinum certified album yielded three consecutive No. 1 Multi-Platinum certified hits “Lose It,” “Good As You” and “Homesick.” Brown’s multi-song EP project Mixtape Vol. 1- earned Brown an ACM Award nomination for Album of the Year (2021) and an ACM win-his first- for “Video of the Year.”
The CMA, ACM, Billboard, AMA and People’s Choice Award nominee has earned seven #1 singles at Country radio and most recently topped the charts with #1 hit, “One Mississippi.” Also known for his collaborations, Brown has worked with artists including Grammy and Academy Award winning singer-songwriter H.E.R. (“Blessed & Free,”) DJ Marshmello (2X Platinum “One Thing Right”), Khalid and Swae Lee (Platinum “Be Like That”), “blackbear (“Memory”), Nelly (Platinum “Cool Again”), John Legend (“Last Time I Say Sorry”), Camila Cabello (“Never Be The Same” remix), Brooks & Dunn (“Believe” the super duo’s Reboot album), Becky G. (“Lost In The Middle Of Nowhere”) and Chris Young (“Famous Friends”), the later of which became Billboard’s 2021 year-end No. 1 Country Airplay Song and earned both Brown and Young a CMT Award for “Collaborative Video of the Year.”
In addition to his forthcoming album, Brown will be kicking off his international Drunk or Dreaming Tour, which will include his first touring dates to Australia and New Zealand as well as his long-awaited return to Canada and Europe. The tour will kick off September 17th in Melbourne, Australia before continuing throughout Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK and Europe.
BANDAID BRIGADE – Ripe For The Summer
As their second studio album inches into sight, BANDAID BRIGADE release a fresh taster of what to expect with: “Perfect”.
The latest sneak-peak into the band’s forthcoming second album Sex Is Terrifying (out 26 August, via Xtra Mile Recordings), new single “Perfect” is a stomping, glam-rock tinted, feel-good anthem just ripe for the summer. It comes hot on the heels of carefree recent singles “Abacus” and “Hit The Buck”.
A “Perfect” track born from a less-than-perfect start to the recording of their new album, Brian Wahlstrom remembers of writing the single:
“Luckily, due to our miscommunication skills, we accidentally showed up two days early in New Orleans to record the album. We all of a sudden had a few days off to ‘get acclimated’ to the city, and write a few more songs in Zach’s living room. Rucker had this one in his back pocket, it was perfect.”
The new music today also arrives with the announcement of UK live dates, with Bandaid Brigade due to hit the road for a string of UK shows the week after the release of Sex Is Terrifying. Also appearing at Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings, the band will also be supporting Xtra Mile labelmates Skinny Lister at a number of shows across the EU too. Full dates and details are listed below:

Beth Nielsen Chapman – Start To Dance
The acclaimed American artist Beth Nielsen Chapman returns with her new single With Time.
Grammy-nominated Songwriter’s Hall of Fame inductee Beth Nielsen Chapman confirms details of ‘With Time’ – another taste of new album ‘CrazyTown’, out 23rd September 2022 via Cooking Vinyl.
Written with best friend Annie Roboff (who also co-wrote Beth’s hit songs This Kiss and Happy Girl) ‘With Time’ is a beautiful lament on the passing of time written over a number of years.
“We worked on With Time over such a long period and from the moment we started to write it we knew it was an incredibly special song,” says Beth. “The lyric was one of the more difficult lyrics I have ever tried to decode. I was really stumped at certain times and I would put it down for half of a year and then pick it back up and try to get one more syllable or one more phrase. When it was finally finished it was so clear what is had always been wanting to say about wonder and time and love, the magic of life and the breath of our journey through it.”

Produced by the celebrated 5-time Grammy Award winner Ray Kennedy (who’s worked with everyone from Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, andShania Twain, to John Mellencamp and Taylor Swift) ‘With Time’ is the second single from ‘CrazyTown’ following the recent ‘Hey Girl (We Can Deal With It). The new album, out this September combines elements of classic rock, blues and pop to great effect. It’s a deeply personal collection, exploring themes of navigating the ups and downs of life and love, but, as with all Beth’s albums – still with plenty of light at the end of the tunnel.
“It’s about navigating chaos” says Beth. “How, even despite everything being crazy, on some level one can trust that things are in divine order and that we will be OK. There’s a lot of groove and joy and fun on this album, along with a couple of deep dive ballads.”
